Wonderful news! The UCSO has been given a $7,500 fund to match your donations from now until January 17, 2023!

This tremendous opportunity—given on behalf of long-time benefactor Frances R. Siegel—will strengthen our finances and allow us to provide richly engaging, exciting and free programs to our
community.

Our beloved "Frankie" was known for her exuberant and ever-present smile—which burst with pride for "her" orchestra, and especially for our director, Dr. Leon Burke. Maestro Burke and Frankie knew one another for over 40 years, and he referred to her fondly as "Mom".

In 2015, UCSO Board Member David Siegel instituted the “Frances Siegel Pay-It-Forward Memorial Fund” to honor his mother’s wish to promote and, most importantly, to preserve the wonderful works of the University City Symphony Orchestra.

Through your continued generous support of this matching fund, you provided Maestro Burke and the orchestra the resources to rise to the very edge of a bright new era, including:

 

• Richly engaging programs of unmatched cultural and genre diversity

• More performances offered in our UCity “home,” the spacious, beautiful, and acoustically outstanding E. Desmond Lee Concert Hall at the 560 Music Center

• Performances of works by brilliant composers from our own city—which have no greater promoter or advocate than Maestro Burke

• Continued funding of the William Schatzkamer Young Artist Competition—the great springboard for promising youth

• More performances by elite soloists from around the world

• Maestro Burke's unique commitment to rarely performed, yet brilliant and entertaining masterworks by composers from every corner of the world

• The move to a larger and more accommodating rehearsal space, which supports the safety, overall well-being, and creativity of our musicians
